My Latest Interview & Respect & Thoughts on GURU passing

Over the Weekend (Sat. April 17th), and just b4 my show at the Shrine in Harlem, I had my first live interview in some months now. (last one was Nov. 10th 2009) In this interview on BTR (Blog talk radio) I was also feat. along side Native Son and 13 of Nazareth. Two other great writers/spoken word artist I admire. With a unexpected guest that called in also. In this interview, I discuss my background and some of my most certified pieces and share a new one, called "Unfinished". I also discussed along with the other artist about my legacy and what type I wanna leave for future generation in spoken word. Believe me when I say, it was a honor and pleasure being on panel with my amazing brethren in words and knowledge.

**side note**: I'd also like to send my prayers and condolences to the family of hip-hop legend GURU (Keith Elam) of the group Gang Starr. Who recently lost his battle with cancer at age 43; after being in a coma since early this year. Respect to GURU and his groundbreaking, standard setting, edutaining flows and contributions. I'm definitely one, of many that grew up on some Gang Starr in the early '90s. Thanks for leaving a legacy to resound for young MC's to come.

Grandma's Hands

Last night when I heard this song sung,(one of most classic, timeless songs ever made...in my opinion) at Soul Sweet Sanctuary (show in south Bronx hosted by Singer/songwriter/poet/actress, Zera Preistess) reminded me of the grandma(s) in my fam, that transcended yrs. b4 my start. The ones I never got to meet. But my mom say I remind her of so much. Happy blessed Sunday my people. B-)

My First Feat. @ The Nuyorican Poets Cafe

Recently, I got the honorary opportunity to feat. for the 1st time at the Nuyorican (Feb. 27th) It was kinda a draining night for me. And I got more "Honest" than I ever have in any other feature performance to date. I wasn't in church, but I did, in s sense make a confession to the congregation. Below is one of the major ones I revealed, that have never done b4. I'm still, in some ways, learning to open up to connect the people a I grow in this sacred art form. I believe its one of my most personal poems to date. It hits home to me. Take from it what you will and give me some feedback.

We are the World (25 yrs later)

I just wanted to get everyones opinion on the new version of "We Are the World" song/video for Haiti in 2010. I finished watching it a little while ago. And personally, enjoyed it. :) I hope it reaches its purpose. So if you haven't seen it. Here it is.

Thanks for the support!! If you were able to make it out to Poet Rock (Brooklyn) back on Tuesday,

much love. :) If you didn't know, I recently put together a mix CD of some of my well known, hand picked,

pieces. Some are live and some have musical accompaniment. Which I sold at Poet Rock at an insane type price.

A one night only special under $10. But made it a set price of $10 now.

At this time, my CD is only available at my shows. But that will change in the future.

My next big show, which I'm sure I mentioned before, is coming up in a few weeks;

Its the final countdown to poet Rock (Brooklyn)!! Tomorrow night, Jan. 26th 113 Franklin st. Green point Brooklyn. its show time! Are you gone rep and show up to support your lost son BK...?
